Allie Brault is a soprano known for her work towards making Jewish song more accessible to teachers and singers. Her research particularly focuses on the songs of poet and musician Ilse Weber (1903-1944). Brault has won multiple awards for her extensive work on Weber -- most notably the Professional Master’s Excellence Award from Penn State. She is also the creator of The Jewish Art Song Database (jewishartsong.com), the first comprehensive online database of this repertoire that is specifically modeled for voice teachers.
As a voice teacher, Brault strives to create a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment for her students. She enjoys integrating yoga and crossover techniques in her studio work. Brault’s students have been accepted into numerous university music and theatre programs across the country and have performed in All-State and All-Eastern conferences.
As a performer, Brault has sung operatic roles such as Blanche de la Force in Dialogues of the Carmelites, Mabel in The Pirates of Penzance, and Wesley in the world premiere of Tom Cipullo's Mayo. Her favorite concert and chamber experiences have been performing Silvestrov's Postludium DSCH for a Ukrainian benefit concert and singing in the U.S. premiere of Sacchini's Giacchè mia sposa sei. As an actor, Brault can be found in short films, commercials, and in educational voiceover work. Brault made her Off-Broadway debut in David Harrower's Blackbird in 2021.
Brault is in the first year of her Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Voice Pedagogy at the University of Maryland. She studies voice with Dr. Teri Bickham. Brault received her Master of Music degree in Voice Performance and Pedagogy from Penn State and her Bachelor of Music degree from The Crane School of Music. Outside of teaching and performing, she also works as a freelance photographer and filmmaker.
